“You Are Being Stalked”
Do you ever get the feeling that you’re being followed? That someone is watching your EVERY move? I’ve felt that way before and now I KNOW it’s true.
As Christians, we are promised that we are being followed incessantly. So what do you do? Call the police? Run really fast?
NOPE!! You praise God for keeping His promises.
Psalm 23:6 says “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” See? God says we will be followed ALL the days of our live by goodness and mercy.
These two “men” follow us to comfort us wherever we go, in the good times and bad times. But do we really believe this?
God’s goodness and mercy stalk us. They are with us wherever we go. They are enduring and everlasting. But what does this mean for us?
It means that His plans are good. Romans 12:2 tells us that His will is good, pleasing, and perfect. It’s a reflection of His character. Even in captivity, God told His people that His plan was good and for their good (Jeremiah 29:11). God’s plan is for our ultimate good.
It means His providence is good. He sovereignly works to bring His plans to pass. “Providence” means that the lovingly sovereign care that God uses to care for our lives. Romans 8:28 tells us that God is in charge and in control. God micromanages all that occurs in our lives, the good and the bad, to bring about His good plan for our lives, which is to be conformed to Jesus (Romans 12:2). Remember Joseph’s predicament in Genesis? He was sold into slavery but eventually saved the lives of the countless people and tells his brothers that everything worked out because of GOD’s PLAN (Genesis 50:20). Of course, the cross is the ultimate example of how something bad can be for our good.
It means His provision is good. God is the Giver of ALL good things (James 1:17). Everything good comes from God. In Matthew 7, Jesus tells us that if earthly fathers give their children good gifts, God does MUCH better. Romans 8:32 tells us that He even gave His Son to die for us. Even in Psalm 34:10, we see that God showers blessings on the wicked and the good alike. His provision, my friend, is good.
It means His protection is good. We are limited in how we can protect our children; but God’s protection of His children is limitless. Nahum 1:7 says that God is all powerful and offers ultimate protection. He shields us from what we normally crush us. His protection is ALWAYS good.
It means His patience is good. This is revealed time and time again when we sin and fail Him. He is never quick to anger as stated in Psalm 103:8. He patiently gives us time to repent before He responds.
It means that His pardon is good. We don’t deserve God’s grace and pardon. In Psalm 32:1-2, we see that we are blessed to be forgiven. We need to admit our sins to God and accept His pardon.
God’s goodness is so vast and flows so freely that it can’t be contained or restrained. There is NONE good but God alone. Therefore, goodness and mercy will stalk you until you dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Now, aren’t you thankful you have two stalkers?
