Well Done Good and Faithful Mommy
by Megan Breedlove
As a mom, most of the time we know that what we do matters, but it never feels that way. In her book, Well Done Good and Faithful Mommy, Megan Breedlove shares stories of how being a mom is tougher than it looks.
Being a mom may be one of the most under appreciated jobs in the world. After a while, you become exhausted from the 24/7 responsibilities of caring for and nurturing your child(ren). There is little appreciation offered as we trudge through the day to day tasks of feeding, cleaning, disciplining, and loving our child(ren). In Well Done Good and Faithful Mommy, Megan Breedlove speaks the hearts of mamas and breathes encouragement into your life as you realize that GOD sees what you’re doing and HE appreciates it, even if no one else does.
Mama, what you do really DOES matter, especially to God. Throughout this book, Megan constantly point you back to remembering WHY you do the things that you do, day in and day out: to honor God and draw closer to Him. She points you back to Scripture and uses Biblical examples to reinforce your importance in the life of your child(ren) and in society.
Megan sets the tone at the beginning of the book that this is NOT your ordinary “self-help” book and explains how GOD is the only One who can help us. She provides a prayer prompt at the end of each chapter to enable moms to really take a deeper look at our hearts and to turn our focus toward God, allowing Him to breathe new life into us.
Megan uses real life stories to help us relate to Biblical truths and apply them to our lives, helping us to see how when we serve “the least of these”, we are truly serving Jesus. This book has helped me to reexamine my role as a mom (and wife) and has shown me to let God fill my “appreciation cup” so that it is overflowing. I appreciated that the chapters were short but that each one was perfectly written to speak to my heart.
As I was reading this book, I felt like I really knew Megan. It wasn’t until I was almost finished with the book that I realized that Megan is the write of “Manna For Moms”. Her online devotions are AMAZING!! Be sure to check them out at mannaformoms.com .
If you are feeling under-appreciated as a mom and need some encouragement from someone who is in the trenches with you, I HIGHLY recommend this book!
