Offertory – October 7, 2018

Morning Service – For the morning service, I will be playing “My Jesus, I Love Thee” by Adoniram J Gordon (this arrangement by Carol Tornquist © 2003 Word Music, LLC). This arrangement is to be played “relaxed”. The melody flows gently through the song and reminds me of how gentle and relaxed I can become when I remember that Jesus loves me and when I return His love to Him and share it with others.

Here are the lyrics:

My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree;
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

Evening Service – For the evening service, I have chosen “ I Give You My Heart” by Reuben Morgan (© 1995 Reuben Morgan/Hillsong Publishing, #528 in the Baptist Hymnal © 2008 LifeWay Worship). I chose this song because of the simplicity of the melody and lyrics but the power they posses. It’s easy to say (or sing) that we give the Lord our whole heart and that we live for Him alone, but it’s an entirely different ambition to actually live it out. I want to be able to say with the Psalmist “I delight to do Your will, my God.” (Psalm 40:8).

Here are the lyrics:

This is my desire to honor You.
Lord, with all my heart, I worship You.
All I have within me, I give You praise.
All that I adore is in You.

Lord, I give You my heart,
I give You my soul, I live for You alone.
Every breath that I take, every moment I’m awake,
Lord, have Your way in me.
