Offertory – August 26, 2018

Morning Service – For the morning service, I will be playing “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty” by John B Dykes (this arrangement by Roger House © 1995 Lillenas Publishing Co.). While this song is very worshipful, it’s also very stately. It’s majestic and powerful, portraying God’s majesty. Did you know that the lyrics to this song are mentioned in the Bible and will be sung in Heaven? (See Revelation 4:8) It’s no wonder that it is to be played with a sense of worship and power!

Here are the lyrics:

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who was, and is, and evermore shall be.

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy Name, in earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Evening Service – For the evening service, I have chosen “Let It Be Said Of Us” by Steve Fry and Bruce Greer (© 1996 Maranatha! Music , #597 in the Baptist Hymnal © 2008 LifeWay Worship). I chose this song because of the lyrics. When people talk about me (because they do), I want them to say that it’s evident how I keep the Lord as my passion. I want them notice how I fight for Him, and that it’s only by Jesus that I’m saved. I want to cross to be my glory and the Lord to be my song.

Here are the lyrics:

Let it be said of us That the Lord was our passion,
That with gladness we bore Every cross we were given;
That we fought the good fight, That we finished our course
Knowing within us the power of the risen Lord.

(Chorus)
Let the cross be our glory And the Lord be our song;
By mercy made holy, By the Spirit made strong.
Let the cross be our glory And the Lord be our song
‘Till the likeness of Jesus Be through us made known.
Let the cross be our glory And the Lord be our song

Let it be said of us; We were marked by forgiveness,
We were known by our love And delighted in meekness;
We were ruled by His peace Heeding unity’s call,
Joined as one body That Christ would be seen by all.
(Chorus)
