Watering

Has this ever happened to you…???

The weather forecast says there a pretty good chance of rain, you know, like above 70%. So, you decide to save your energy and NOT water the flowers or the garden and let God do His thing. Well, what ends of up happening? It doesn’t rain and your flowers wilt.

So, the next day, the weather forecast says there’s even a less chance of rain, so you get out your watering cans and tote them around the yard, being sure to water everything. And…then it pours. Like MONSOONS!  Buckets and buckets of rain, then a nice steady rain for hours.

That happened to me recently. The first day, I got discouraged, even angry, that it didn’t rain and my flowers wilted. So, the second day I watered everything.

It got me to thinking (I know, that’s dangerous for me to do)…what about our Christian walk?

Have you ever felt discouraged and need a shower of encouragement? Of course…we all have!  Have you ever felt led to encourage someone (water them) but then thought, “I don’t need to…someone else “more qualified” will do it.” (Like that 70% chance of rain)

Or maybe you think you don’t need to read your Bible everyday (watering daily) because you’ll go to church and hear the sermon on Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night (chance of rain).

Well, let me ask you a question…what the harm in too much encouragement? Will you suffer if you read your Bible too much? Can you ever witness for Christ too much?

The Bible says to encourage one another daily (Hebrews 3:13). We are commanded to meditate on God’s Word day and night (Joshua 1:8).

Just like my flowers need to be watered daily to avoid wilting in the sun, we need to be watered daily with God’s word and encouragement from others so that we don’t wilt in the heat of this world.

Great thoughts to be dwelled into our minds for following closer to God each day. 🎚🎚
